Shreveport Pirates Jersey
Years Active: 1994-1995
Stadium: Independence Stadium
The Shreveport Pirates were created when the owners of the Ottawa Rough Riders wanted to move the team to the U.S. This was rejected, but the owners were granted the Pirates and a new group took over the Rough Riders. Forest Gregg was hired as head coach and the team had great fan support despite 2 last place finishes. The owners had significant debt, notable for a public incident in which the lawyer for one of the owners ran out of gas in an attempt to get away with a car that was being seized. The Pirates folded after the 1995 season.
