In 1989, the Anchorage Aces joined the semi-pro Pacific Southwest Hockey League. They joined the professional minor league known as the Western Coast Hockey League (WCHL) in 1995 as a charter member. They joined the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) when those two leagues merged in 2003. The Aces went on to win three Kelly Cups (2006, 2011, and 2014). However, being, by far, the westernmost and northernmost team in the league, travel costs were oppressive for the Aces. In 207, the club was sold and moved to Maine.
