The Rosebuds were most notable for briefly holding the Stanley Cup in 1916 after winning the PCHA championship. The Rosebuds then lost the cup to the Montreal Canadiens in a series that came down to a late goal. The team folded shortly after and a new Rosebuds returned to Portland in 1925. After only one season its players were sold to the Chicago Blackhawks and the team once again folded.
