Shreveport Steamer Mini Helmet
Team Info
The Houston Texans played the 1974 season in the World Football League, but due to poor attendance played just 11 games. The owner gave the team over to the league which moved the team to Louisiana to become the Shreveport Steamer. Head coach Jim Garrett was replaced after his comments about Shreveport and starting QB Mike Taliaferro retired instead of moving. Larry King became the Steamer's announcer upon their move. "The Boats" as they were often referred to struggled in 1974 and returned in 1975 only to have the league fold halfway through the season.
