Team Info

The Philadelphia Bell played from 1974-75 in the World Football League. The team's first two games drew crowds as big as the Eagles averaging 60,000 fans. It turned out that most of the tickets had actually been given away for free in what was known as the "papergate scandal".  Although they had a losing record, the Bell somehow found themselves in the playoffs. The team won the final game of the season by forfeit when their opponent quit on the season after a long losing streak. When another team withdrew from the playoffs because they could not afford to travel, the Bell took their place. The team returned in 1975, but the league folded midway through the season.
