Oaks Basketball T-Shirt
Years Active: 1967-1969
Stadium: Oakland Coliseum Arena
The Oakland Oaks were one of the original teams in the ABA and were named after a team which had folded 5 years earlier. In the team's first season, the Oaks were the worst in the league. Major changes were made the following season with the addition of coach Alex Hannum and all star Rick Barry who was in a contract dispute with the San Francisco Warriors. The moves paid off and the Oaks won the championship, but attendance continued to struggle. The Oaks realized they could not compete with the Warriors in the Bay Area and moved to Washington DC after only 2 seasons.
