Montreal Maroons Jersey
Team Info
Years Active: 1924–1938
Stadium: Montreal Forum
Titles: 1926, 1935
The Maroons shared Montreal with the Canadiens and were more focused on an English speaking fanbase, while the Canadiens had a French Canadian following. The team is still notable for playing in the longest playoff game in which they lost 1-0 in 6 overtimes. During the Great Depression it became clear that only one team could survive in Montreal and the team ceased play in 1938 with the Canadiens getting the rights to many of their players. Ownership attempted to move or sell what remained of the team for another 9 years with plans in St Louis and Philadelphia but were never able to get the funding to revive the team.
