Memphis Grizzlies WFL T-Shirt
Team Info
The Memphis Grizzlies played in the World Football League in 1974-75. The team was originally to be the Toronto Northmen, but the Canadian Football Act was formed, banning U.S. leagues in Canada. The team became the Memphis Southmen, but was officially changed to Grizzlies in the second season. The Grizzlies were owned by John Bassett and coached by John McVay. Elvis Presley was known to attend games and the team had plenty of star power with 3 Miami Dolphins players. When the World Football League folded, the Grizzlies attempted to join the NFL but were unsuccessful.
