Colt .45's Low Profile Hat
Team Info
Years Active: 1962-1964
Stadium: Colt Stadium
The Colts began play as an expansion team in 1962. The front office was largely made up of the Houston Buffaloes staff; a minor league team which was replaced by the Colts. Players however, were chosen in an expansion draft. Fans chose the name in a contest and was based on the Colt 45 pistol “the gun that won the west”. Harry Craft managed every season for the team and despite talent on the roster, the team never had a winning record. As a result, the team finished last in attendance in 2 of its 3 seasons. Following the 1964 season, the team was re-branded and moved to a new stadium. Colt Stadium was abandoned and eventually dismantled to build 2 other stadiums in Mexico.
