Cleveland Barons Jersey
Years Active: 1976-1978
Stadium: Richfield Coliseum
In the 1976-77 season, the California Golden Seals moved to Cleveland and took the name of a team that had folded a few years earlier; Cleveland Barons. The team was not well received and the move forced the popular Cleveland Crusaders out of town. When the Barons couldn't draw crowds as big as the Crusaders, they were forced to take out a loan from the players association just to finish the first season. More money was poured into the team and the roster was improved for the second year. Despite some bright moments early in the season, a 15 game losing streak knocked the team out of playoff contention. After only 2 seasons, the Barons merged with the Minnesota North Stars.
