Team Info

Years Active: 1973-1976 (Toros), 1976-1979 (Bulls)
Stadiums: Maple Leaf Gardens, Varsity Arena, Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex

The Toronto Toros began as the Ottawa Nationals, but after a poor first season were sold and moved to Toronto. The team had a successful first 2 seasons, but a dismal 3rd year. Due to a combination of poor lease terms and dropping attendance, the team moved again and became the Birmingham Bulls. The Bulls played until 1979, but were not included in the merger because the NHL did not want another team in the south. As a result, the Bulls joined the CHL where they would play another season and a half before folding.
