Team Info

The Toronto Toros began play in the 1973-74 WHA season. The team had previously been the Ottawa Nationals and when purchased by John F Basset moved to Toronto to become the Toros. The team had a successful first 2 seasons, but a dismal 3rd year. Due to a combination of poor lease terms and dropping attendance, the team moved again and became the Birmingham Bulls. The Bulls played until 1979, but were not included in the merger because the NHL did not want another team in the south. As a result, the Bulls joined the CHL where they would play another season and a half before folding.
