The Seals were the premier baseball team in San Francisco for over 50 years. The team was very successful, winning 14 championships and featuring many star players throughout its history, including all 3 DiMaggio brothers (Joe, Vince and Dom). San Francisco native Lefty O'Doul managed the team for 16 seasons and continued playing in games for the first half of his coaching career. In 1945, the team was bought by Paul Fagan who planned to move the Seals up to the major league level. Unfortunately, his plans would never come to be and the Seals played their final season in 1957 when the New York Giants announced their move to San Francisco.
