LA Express 1985 USFL Jersey
The LA Express played 3 seasons in the USFL from 1983-85. Actor Lee Majors served as a minority owner and CFL hall of famer, Hugh Campbell was hired as head coach. With the first pick in the inaugural draft, the Express chose Dan Marino, who ultimately chose the NFL. An offer was made to Eric Dickerson which was also unsuccessful. The team was finally able to sign a true star in Steve Young, offering him a record contract at the time. Despite the talent, attendance struggled so badly that the final home game was played at a community college.
