The Oakland Larks were original members of the West Coast Negro League in 1946. The league was short lived and lasted only 1 season, but the Larks continued on as a barnstorming team. The team traveled the country and Canada, playing wherever they could find opponents. Lionel Wilson, a future mayor of Oakland and Sam Jones a 2x Major League All Star both pitched for the Larks.
