    The Crusaders were founded by Nick Mileti, a former owner of the Indians, Cavaliers and the original minor league Cleveland Barons. To make room for the city's new WHA entry, Mileti moved the Barons team to Florida. The Crusaders were very popular and made the playoffs in every season. Ironically, the NHL brought their own Cleveland Barons team to the city in 1976 and the Crusaders were forced to move. While the team was originally to become the Florida Breakers, it eventually became the second incarnation of the St Paul Fighting Saints.
